Protect the view while making room for daily life.
Identify the views that matter from the house and from the garden itself. A screening plant placed for privacy today may eventually obscure a distant hillside. Consider mature dimensions, the height of seating, and the way planting frames an opening rather than treating every boundary as a continuous hedge.
Outdoor entertaining also needs a practical route back to the kitchen, comfortable space around a table, and places for shade and service. Discuss those movements before selecting finishes. Where the garden meets a vineyard or open land, plan an intentional transition and clarify which areas belong in the regular maintenance scope.
