Before you begin
Choose the surface after resolving the space.
Mark the proposed terrace on the ground and test it with the furniture you expect to use. Allow room to pull chairs back, move around a dining table, and reach the house without crossing the main seating area. The visible material is only one part of the installation. Existing grades, drainage, access, base preparation, edging, and the transition at doorways all affect the scope. Ask the proposal to distinguish those items from paving itself. If lighting or a future outdoor kitchen is planned, discuss conduit and utility routes before the surface is installed.
